Understanding the law and your financial entitlements

JANUARY : Challenging Behaviour

At this month's meeting will be an informal workshop talking over and thinking up solutions for challenging behaviour,  pick others brains for top tips, also the chance to speak one to one with professionals from the Autism Family Advisory Team.

 

FEBRUARY : Explaining Diagnosis

There will be a speech and presentation by Phillip Whittaker, specialist senior educational psychologist.

 

MARCH : SCHOOLS SPECIAL

There will be a number of informal workshops to join depending on your stage through the educational system, topics to include: a) understanding the system with a local teacher, b) preparing for transition into adulthood, c) appealing against a school place allocation with parents that have done it! The Autism Family Advisory Team will also be present for one to one sessions.

 

APRIL : AGM / Celebrating Autism

Being a proper run group we have to have an AGM and thought it a good opportunity to reflect on the good things about autism, no really there are some!  " For success in science or art a dash of autism is essential" - Hans Asperger

 

 MAY : Understanding the law and your financial entitlements

Nearly as complex as the school system we hope to help you unravel some of the mystery and work out what you can do, what you can claim for and what you are liable for! and the Autism Family Advisory |Team will be present for one to one sessions.

To support each other by sharing information and ideas. To Empower parents of children on the Autistic Spectrum, thus promoting positive thoughts and outcomes. For everyone to leave the group with a positive outlook by drawing on each others personal experiences and strengths.
