BOOK REVIEW…………………………

Asperger’s and GirlS

’A book that provides up-to-date information about girls and women with Asperger’s Syndrome.

Covering topics such as diagnoses, education, puberty, relationships and careers, experts in the field share practical advice for both caregivers and the women and girls who are affected by Asperger’s.

FACT Member review: Although this book has been written for the American market, (hence having ‘americanisms’ such as High School in it) it is a very valuable read if you have a female with Asperger’s in your care or indeed are one. It covers every aspect of the female life from school, bullying and transition to puberty, relationships, marriage and becoming an Asperger’s mother. Depending on age many chapters of the book will be extremely useful for everyday living. I personally found the chapter on puberty very worthwhile and useful as this can be a tricky period in a young Asperger’s girl’s life and there were many tips explained that helped me to understand the needs of a young women and the range of help that can be given. I would strongly recommend this book.

Availability: This book is published by FUTURE HORIZONS INC and can be ordered from AMAZON.co.uk.
